Unicode
Unicode is a way of representing the characters in multiple alphabets.
To display Unicode characters you need to use a Unicode font and save using a Unicode format.
Downloading a Unicode Font
There are several free Unicode fonts on the Web.
Alan Wood's site
at http://www.alanwood.net/unicode/fonts.html is a good starting point.
Selecting a Unicode Font
- Go to the 'Setup' Menu
- Ensure that 'Save As Unicode' is selected.
- Choose the 'Main font for Text' option
- Select a Unicode Font
- Exit and re-start the program
When you export as RTF or HTML you should also set the fonts in the Export dialogs to the Unicode Font.
Some Word Processors (e.g. older versions of MS Word) do not support Unicode.
If this is the case you should go to the
Setup menu and ensure that "Save As Unicode" is not selected.
Warning When files are saved as Unicode they are twice as large as normal files
and will not load into older versions of the software. The Mac version does not support Unicode.
